We first met Melissa in 2014. She was the agent for the sellers of the home we were buying. We were extremely happy with our purchase and the sales process and so impressed with Melissa’s professionalism and personality that we listed our condominium with her that same weekend. Both transactions ended well for us. Since then, we stayed connected. Melissa knew we loved our home in Comox but also understood it was not our primary residence. So, she presented a few opportunities for us along the way. When we finally considered listing our home, Melissa was our obvious choice. Months prior to our listing she provided us with market updates for representative properties which eventually gave us confidence on our sale price and timing. She also had a thorough understanding of the real estate markets on Vancouver Island and the lower mainland and provided sage advice along the way. We were not in Comox for most of the sales process, but Melissa took care of things in our absence, she even washed all the windows prior to at least one showing. And we were travelling abroad when we completed the sale. We recently moved provinces to beautiful Vancouver Island and had the pleasure of working with Melissa who helped us buy our first home together. My partner and I had the bad luck of moving during a pandemic where he was able to attend house viewings in person, but I was on the other side of a video call. Throughout the whole process of working with a mortgage broker, finding a home within our budget, and negotiating the sale (under asking I might add!), Melissa worked incredibly hard for us. We hired Melissa Berrigan first to sell our apartment in Comox, and then to help us to purchase a home in the Comox Valley. I moved to the Comox Valley in July of 2021. I looked casually at properties here for four to five years, frequently looking at properties that Melissa sent me via email. Over that time, I saw several homes that interested me, but I just wasn’t ready to commit. This was time well spent though, as it allowed me to see what was out there, and how much I’d have to be prepared to spend. As prices started to climb, I realized I’d better get into the market. I first made an offer on a garden home, which fell through due to a strata regulation. A few months later, another home came available. Melissa contacted me via text and stressed that I had to act quickly. She toured the house my sister, and I made an offer “sight unseen”. It was a multiple offer situation, and Melissa counselled me, and gave me good advice, so I was the successful buyer of my home. I feel very happy with my purchase, and I am hopefully in my forever home. I highly recommend Melissa as a realtor. She has been the realtor for several relatives and friends, and I we’ve all been very satisfied with her work. She tries to find the right property for you and does not pressure you to do something you aren’t comfortable with.
